Baseball Recap: Willows Comes Up Short

Willows lost against Colusa back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Honkers fell 9-5 to the RedHawks. The Honkers' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Charles Squier was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Squier was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

Squier wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Clint Girard, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Willows is 2-1 when Girard posts two or more runs, but 0-12 otherwise.

Willows' defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Colusa, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-15.

While Willows had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
