Baseball Game Preview: Kirksville Tigers vs. Putnam County Midgets

The Kirksville Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Putnam County Midgets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Putnam County took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Kirksville, who comes in off a win.

While Kirksville's victory against Marshall wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Owls 3-1. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Owls: they've now won seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Putnam County unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Macon by a score of 3-1. The game marked the Midgets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Putnam County's defeat dropped their record down to 21-4. As for Kirksville, their win bumped their record up to 11-16.

Everything went Kirksville's way against Putnam County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Kirksville made off with a 13-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
