Volleyball Recap: Broome Centurions vs. Union County Yellowjackets

If Broome was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Woodruff on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Centurions took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Union County Yellowjackets on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellowjackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 back in September.

Broome was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Union County work for it, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-17, 22-25, 25-21.

Kalyn Norris paced Broome's offense, picking up 16 kills. Norris got some help from Hannah Cooksey and her 16 assists. Cooksey was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Broome has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season. As for Union County, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Broome will square off against rival Greer Middle College at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Union County is set to challenge their familiar foe Chapman at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
