Basketball Game Preview: Wilkinson County Wildcats vs. Bogue Chitto Bobcats

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Wilkinson County Wildcats face off against the Bogue Chitto Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday... Wilkinson County has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with 15 straight losses, while Bogue Chitto will come in with four straight wins.

Wilkinson County is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Loyd Star on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Wilkinson County came up short against Loyd Star, falling 67-46. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-18.

Wilkinson County's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Darien Tolliver, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards, and JaNorris Anthony, who went 7 for 12 en route to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden ?Duk? Dunbar, who posted three points.

Even though they lost, Wilkinson County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Bogue Chitto was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Loyd Star 66-33. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 30 points or more this season.

Wilkinson County's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Bogue Chitto, their victory was their 24th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-3.

Wilkinson County took a serious blow against Bogue Chitto when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 65-28. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Wilkinson County was down 54-13.
