Softball Game Preview: Mammoth Spring Bears vs. Viola Longhorns

Mammoth Spring hasn't had much luck against Viola recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mammoth Spring Bears will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge the Viola Longhorns at 4:00 p.m.

Monday just wasn't the day for Mammoth Spring's offense. They came up short against Cotter on Monday, falling 26-0.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Viola and Hillcrest meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. Viola blew past Hillcrest 31-2. The Longhorns haven't had any issues with the Screamin Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Dana Wright was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Ryliegh Golden, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

Mammoth Spring's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Viola, their record now sits at 2-0.

Mammoth Spring suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Viola in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Mammoth Spring avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
