Softball Game Preview: Lancaster Red Devils vs. Westmoreland Eagles

The Lancaster Red Devils are taking a road trip to take on the Westmoreland Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lancaster is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

On Thursday, Lancaster narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Northumberland 3-1.

Meanwhile, while Westmoreland put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for King & Queen Central. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Royal Tigers. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Madelynn Hays and Emma Burgess made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Hays pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Burgess pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Hays got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Burgess went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Olivia Gallagher was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Another player making a difference was Morgan Gooch, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Westmoreland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .868. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Lancaster's record is now 14-3. As for Westmoreland, their record now sits at 9-2.

Lancaster beat Westmoreland 9-4 when the teams last played back in June of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
