Basketball Recap: Fort Bend Austin Bulldogs vs. Ridge Point Panthers
The Fort Bend Austin Bulldogs stacked a 23rd blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They blew past Ridge Point, posting a 69-32 victory on the road. The win was familiar territory for Fort Bend Austin who now have 25 in a row.
Fort Bend Austin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shun?teria Anumele led the charge by scoring 26 points along with six assists and two steals. Anumele has been hot recently, having posted 20 or more points the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Crystal Schultz, who went 6 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 5 assists.
Fort Bend Austin pushed their record up to 29-1 with that victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 45.9 points. As for Ridge Point, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-13.
Fort Bend Austin will take on the Broncos at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Fort Bend Bush will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 769th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 42nd). As for Ridge Point, they will head out on the road to face off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
