Baseball Recap: Eastern Greene Drops Highest Score of Season Against North Central

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eastern Greene). They were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over North Central on Thursday. The win continues a trend for Eastern Greene in their matchups with North Central: they've now won four in a row.

Brenton Cook and Gavin Whitfield made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Cook struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Whitfield struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At bat, Cook earned one RBI, one run, and three stolen bases, while Whitfield went 3-for-5 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Peyton Lewis was a standout: he got on base in five of his six plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Kyan Hudson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 8-2. As for North Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-9.

Eastern Greene didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 22-4 win against Dugger Union on the 2nd. As for North Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 9-6 victory against Bloomfield on the 5th.
