Baseball Game Recap: Dirigo Cougars vs. Maranacook Black Bears

Dirigo fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Maranacook on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (5-4), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. The result was an unpleasant reminder to them of the 11-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Hudson Lufkin was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Dirigo dropped their record down to 7-8 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Maranacook, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dirigo will venture away from home to square off against Monmouth Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Maranacook, they are taking a road trip to face off against Lisbon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Black Bears are facing the Greyhounds at the right time seeing as the Greyhounds are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
