Baseball Recap: Whitewright Has No Trouble Against Ector

Whitewright had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Ector on Friday. The Tigers blew past the Eagles 17-7. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by eight runs or more this season.

Graham Elliott made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Whitewright is undefeated when Elliott posts two or more runs, but 6-10 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ian Jordan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Ty Roland, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.

Whitewright kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory got Whitewright back to even at 10-10. As for Ector, they dropped their record down to 5-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
