Basketball Recap: Chester Comes Up Short

Chester was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by the Eau Claire Shamrocks and fell 69-24. While losing is never fun, the Cyclones can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 247th, while the Shamrocks are ranked 120th).

Eau Claire found their leader in sophomore Atreyveon Branch, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine assists. Branch is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Manny Davis, who posted 12 points.

Chester's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Eau Claire, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-3.

Chester has already played their next matchup (against Mid-Carolina), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Eau Claire wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-49 loss against Fairfield Central on the 30th.
