Basketball Recap: Cristo Rey Comes Up Short

Cristo Rey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 27th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Sacramento Country Day Cavaliers and fell 62-27. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Saints this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 62-16 back in January.

Sacramento Country Day found their leader in sophomore Ryan Scripps, who went 6 for 12 en route to 17 points in addition to eight assists and six boards. Scripps is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Riley Ruttan, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Cristo Rey's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Sacramento Country Day, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-10.

Cristo Rey didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 96-21 defeat against John Adams Academy - El Dorado Hills on the 1st. Sacramento Country Day has also already played their next matchup, a 74-61 win against Buckingham Charter on the 31st.
