Basketball Recap: John Carroll Catholic Takes a Loss

John Carroll Catholic played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Centennial Eagles, falling 82-51. The Rams were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-24.

Despite the loss, John Carroll Catholic still got an impressive performance from Joaquin Ruiz, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. Ruiz continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Centennial's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Felix Buroz, who went 7 for 9 on his way to 15 points along with seven steals and five assists. Buroz has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Jeremy Felix was another key player, going 7 of 11 en route to 19 points.

John Carroll Catholic has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points per game. As for Centennial, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-5.

John Carroll Catholic has already played their next game, a 52-49 defeat against Sebastian River on the 16th. As for Centennial, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 60-50 victory against Okeechobee on the 16th.
