Basketball Recap: 18 Straight Home Victories for Westside

Westside waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Laurens Raiders 63-30. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 33 points or more this season.

Westside's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tiana Marshall, who posted 12 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Marshall has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was MaKyhia Paul, who went 7 for 10 to rack up 14 points.

Despite the loss, Laurens still got an impressive performance from Zoe Young, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 boards. That was a full 40% of Laurens' points, marking the third time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Keyorie Yeargin was another key player, putting up eight points.

Westside pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.6 points over those games. As for Laurens, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-12.

Westside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 73-32 win against Wren on the 7th. As for Laurens, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-39 defeat against Fountain Inn on the 5th.
