It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Eastlake ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Eastwood Troopers 5-4. This was payback for the Falcons, who suffered a 9-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Aydenn Estrada spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Eastlake's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Annahi Valdez, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Alexis Garcia was another, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Eastlake's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 17-8. As for Eastwood, their loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 21-2-1.

Coincidentally, Eastlake and Eastwood will both be playing Franklin the next time they take the field. Eastwood will host Franklin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Eastlake will host them at 6:30 p.m. on March 28th.
