Basketball Recap: Baker Takes a Loss

Baker was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 48-31 to the Paxton Bobcats. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while the Bobcats are ranked 94th).

Despite the loss, Baker still got an impressive performance from Mckenzie Mcgraw, who went 8 for 20 on her way to 23 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. That was a full 74.2% of Baker's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Paxton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kenna Cook out in front who put up eight points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Falk, who had nine points.

Baker's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Paxton, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season.

Baker didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-42 victory against Walton on the 14th. As for Paxton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-10 win against Florala on the 10th.
