Baseball Recap: New Deal Finds Playoff Glory Versus Sundown

It's playoff time, and New Deal had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Sundown Roughnecks on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won 11 games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Tristan Bigham spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Dylan Saldana and Ray Alonzo did most of the damage at the plate: Saldana got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Alonzo went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most hits Alonzo has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dallas Sumner, who went 1-for-3 with three runs.

New Deal is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Sundown, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: New Deal beat the Roughnecks by a score of 19-4 later that day.
