Basketball Recap: South Ridge Takes a Loss

South Ridge had lost seven straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-12 to make it eight. They had to suffer through a 48-9 loss at the hands of the Arizona Cultural Academy Wolves. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while the Wolves are ranked 98th).

As for Arizona Cultural Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5. That 39-point margin sets a new team best for them this season.

Leading Arizona Cultural Academy to victory were Tuleen Mansour and Sumaya Abdulazize. Mansour posted 14 points, while Abdulazize earned 16 points.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. South Ridge will head out to square off against West Valley Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' defense has only allowed 29.7 points per game this season, so the Mavericks' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Arizona Cultural Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Alta Vista at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
