We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Saturday, Dora made easy work of Locust Fork and carried off a 12-2 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by six runs or more this season.
Dora got a massive performance out of Cooper Martin, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits Martin has posted since back in February of 2024. Tucker Martin was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Ashville had to endure a 13-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Southeastern on Saturday as Ashville made off with a 12-5 win. The Bulldogs not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 6th.
Jaden Harris made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since March 6th. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Charley Hyde was a standout: he scored three runs while going 2-for-5. Those hits marked the first that he got this season. Another player making a difference was Easton Layfield, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Ashville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Dora has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. Ashville's record now sits at 8-17.
Ashville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Dora hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. It's a different story for Ashville, though, as they've only averaged .256. Will they be able to contain Dora's hitters?
