Poth came out on top against Luling on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run second inning. The Pirates were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Eagles. Considering the Pirates have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Walker Stevens, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Lucas Trevino was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Poth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Poth is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Luling, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.

Poth wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 10-0 victory against Nixon-Smiley on the 17th. As for Luling, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-0 loss against Goliad on the 17th.
