Baseball Game Preview: Sodus Spartans vs. North Rose-Wolcott Cougars

The Sodus Spartans will face off against the North Rose-Wolcott Cougars at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Sodus will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

Sodus is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over Red Creek on Wednesday. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by eight runs or more this season.

Austin Cincinello was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Evan Laird was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when North Rose-Wolcott took on Lyons on Wednesday. The Cougars came out on top against the Lions by a score of 4-1. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won nine in a row.

North Rose-Wolcott's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cody Crane, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Tommy Mills also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Sodus pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for North Rose-Wolcott, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

North Rose-Wolcott's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sodus hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .359. It's a different story for North Rose-Wolcott, though, as they've only averaged .247. Will they be able to contain Sodus' hitters?
