Softball Recap: Hanover-Horton's Loss Ends Nine-Game Winning Streak at Home

Hanover-Horton dropped their record down to 18-3 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell 4-0 to the Saline Hornets. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Comets haven't been shut out since back in April.

As for Saline, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-3-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games.

For Saline's part, the result came thanks to Abby Curtis's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 15 Ks. Curtis has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sydney Hastings, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Casey Griffin also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Looking ahead, Hanover-Horton will challenge Hillsdale at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Comets are facing the Hornets at the right time seeing as the Hornets are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. Saline does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
