Volleyball Recap: Pius X Takes a Loss

Pius X lost against Lincoln Southwest back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Thunderbolts fell just short of the Silver Hawks by a score of 2-1. The Thunderbolts have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Pius X started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-21, 25-23.

Ava Markowski paced Pius X's offense, picking up 16 kills. Markowski got some help from Lauren Pearson and her 28 assists. Pearson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Lincoln Southwest can attribute much of their success to Jadyn Hazzard, who had 11 digs and three assists. That's the most digs Hazzard has posted over her last six matches.

Pius X's defeat dropped their record down to 18-16. As for Lincoln Southwest, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.

Pius X didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Gretna on the 21st. As for Lincoln Southwest, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Columbus on the 20th.
