Baseball Game Preview: Avon Park Red Devils vs. DeSoto County Bulldogs

Avon Park has gone a perfect 10-0 against DeSoto County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Red Devils will face off against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Avon Park's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so DeSoto County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

DeSoto County will be up against a hot Avon Park team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Red Devils came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Hardee.

Eric Harrison spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Avon Park saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jace King, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for DeSoto County's offense. They lost 10-0 to IMG Academy Blue on Monday. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Bulldogs haven't been shut out since back in March.

As for DeSoto County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

Avon Park took their victory against DeSoto County in their previous meeting back in February by a conclusive 10-3 score.
