Preview: Tomball Cougars vs. Cypress Falls Eagles
The Tomball Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Cypress Falls Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Tomball is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cypress Falls in Texas (Tomball is ranked 93rd, while Cypress Falls is ranked 202nd).
Last Saturday, Tomball suffered a tough 35-13 defeat at the hands of Klein Cain. Tomball was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.
Koby Fosher put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 160 yards.
Meanwhile, Cypress Falls waltzed into Friday's matchup with three straight wins but they left with four. They took down Cypress Ranch 38-23. Cypress Falls' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cypress Falls to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chase Ferrell, who picked up 168 receiving yards. Ferrell's longest reception was for an incredible 73 yards. Reid Meekins also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Tomball has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Cypress Falls, they have yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 8-2 record.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Tomball has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 164.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cypress Falls struggles in that department as they've been even better at 193.2 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
