Soccer Game Preview: James Lick vs. Gilroy

The James Lick Comets will head out on the road to take on the Gilroy Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

James Lick gave up the first goal last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Yerba Buena, sneaking past 2-1. The result kept the Comets happy, as they haven't lost a game since December 18, 2024.

Meanwhile, for the first time since back in December of 2024, Gilroy was forced to settle for a draw on Friday. They and Independence finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw.

James Lick has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-3-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those six matches. Gilroy's draw makes their record 8-2-3 this season.

James Lick skirted past Gilroy 2-1 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Will James Lick repeat their success, or does Gilroy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
