Recap: Mira Loma Matadors vs. Rio Linda Knights
The Mira Loma Matadors suffered their closest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They fell just short of Rio Linda by a score of 49-47. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mira Loma in their matchups with Rio Linda: they've now lost four in a row.
Mira Loma's loss came despite strong showings from Danny Pukasenko and Kenneth Brown. Pukasenko scored 17 points, while Brown scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Shine Od Chinzorig, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Leading Rio Linda to victory were Noah Wolford and Darius Williams. Wolford scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Williams scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Rhamad Williams was another key contributor, scoring five points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.
Mira Loma's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Rio Linda, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mira Loma will take on Casa Roble at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Casa Roble has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,373 points over their last 19 matchups. As for Rio Linda, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Woodland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Woodland is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
