Basketball Game Preview: East Catholic Eagles vs. Southington Blue Knights

East Catholic has won ten straight games at home, while Southington has won ten straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The East Catholic Eagles will welcome the Southington Blue Knights at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Saturday, East Catholic beat Windsor 52-40. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked seventh in Connecticut, while the Dukes are ranked 384th in Virginia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Southington was able to grind out a solid win over Northwest Catholic on Saturday, taking the game 57-50.

East Catholic better keep an eye on Lily Cooper. She was instrumental in Southington's win, going 5-for-11 to rack up 14 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. That's the most boards Cooper has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Leggett, who went 6-for-11 en route to 15 points.

Southington's victory bumped their record up to 23-1. As for East Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 21-2.
