Softball Recap: De Pere Continues Home Dominance on Friday

De Pere posted their closest win since April 19th on Friday. They skirted past the Denmark Vikings 5-4. This was payback for the Redbirds, who suffered a 12-7 loss the last time these two teams met.

Reese Falish tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bella Robinett, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaelyn Craig, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

De Pere pushed their record up to 18-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Denmark, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 20-7 record.

Coming up, De Pere will host Green Bay Southwest at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Fighting Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.88 runs per game on average), something the Redbirds will no doubt try to take advantage of. Denmark does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
