Baseball Game Preview: Flat Rock Rams vs. St. Mary Catholic Central Falcons/Kestrels

The Flat Rock Rams are taking a road trip to face off against the St. Mary Catholic Central Falcons/Kestrels at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Flat Rock is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Flat Rock was handed a six-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They skirted past Airport 6-5.

Jayden Yancy tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mikey Giroux, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of David Riddle, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, St. Mary Catholic Central put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Riverview as they made off with a 9-2 win. The Falcons/Kestrels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by seven runs or more this season.

Flat Rock's record now sits at 7-4. As for St. Mary Catholic Central, their record is now 6-0.

Everything went Flat Rock's way against St. Mary Catholic Central when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Flat Rock made off with an 8-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
