League recap: Micek throws longest pass in league this season for St. Edward

Fans got a thrill when Jonah Micek and Drake Shanle connected against Maywood. The longest such play in 6-Man East (6 Man) this season, the connection resulted in 65 yards.

Silver Lake added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Wauneta-Palisade, 51-6. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Mustangs.

St. Edward's dynamic duo of Micek and Shanle proved to be unstoppable against the Tigers, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Micek threw for 196 yards and 3 touchdowns and Shanle had 145 yards receiving. Bryce Hoffmeister helped St. Edward's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 78 yards.

He was 9-15 with 1 interception.

Tyler Rautenberg was a passing and rushing force as Elkhorn Valley fell to Hyannis. He completed 13 passes for 192 yards and 3 touchdowns and also ran for 61 yards. Rautenberg's key target this week was Chris Petersen, who caught 7 passes for 106 yards.

5-foot-10 quarterback Seyler Monroe of Silver Lake is the league leader in passing yards this season with 805. He has also thrown 18 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Petersen. The Elkhorn Valley star has 14 catches for 278 yards.

Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when the Falcons' Petersen goes up against Duane Arntt's team's Monroe.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Elkhorn Valley takes on the Mustangs. Rusty Rautenberg's team is in third place, while Silver Lake is in first place.

The Mustangs took down the Broncos 51-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Monroe threw for 89 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 163 yards in the win.
