Basketball Recap: Antene'a Tauaefa's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Desert Hills over Hurricane

If Desert Hills was feeling good fresh off their 67-43 takedown of Logan on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Thunder lost to the Hurricane Tigers on the road by a 77-61 margin on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Thunder of the 62-49 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

Desert Hills lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Antene'a Tauaefa, who shot 64% from the field on his way to 17 points and six boards. He is on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolten Andrus, who went 5-for-8 en route to 15 points and six rebounds.

Hurricane was led to victory by Clyde Berrett and Brigham Kemp. Berrett dropped a double-double with 26 points and 13 boards, while Kemp shot 50% from the field to rack up 25 points and five steals. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Stout, who posted ten points and five rebounds.

Desert Hills has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Hurricane, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Desert Hills wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 50-45 win against Cedar on the 12th. As for Hurricane, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-45 victory against Richfield on the 12th.
