3A District 2 recap November 13, 2013
Taos extended the longest winning streak in 3A District 2 this week by beating Raton, 40-19. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Tigers.
West Las Vegas fell to Robertson 53-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Cam Baird threw for 325 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was 24-44 with 1 interception.
Caleb Wood was the best wideout in the league this week as the Tigers lost to Taos. Wood tallied 7 receptions for 139 yards. Luiz Ruiz helped Raton's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 93 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Baird of Raton is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,662. He has also thrown 16 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Isaac Martinez. The Pojoaque Valley star has 27 catches for 638 yards.
Dominic Lucero of the the Cardinals is just 68 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 111 carries Lucero has accumulated 932 yard this year.
