Basketball Recap: Lakeland Comes Up Short

After soaring to 68 points the game before, Lakeland was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They took a blow against the Wausau West Warriors, falling 89-30. While losing is never fun, the Thunderbirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 308th, while the Warriors are ranked 73rd).

Wausau West found their leader in sophomore Jackson Riley, who went 7 of 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 31 points and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Riley has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Griffin Lange, who went 7 for 15 en route to 14 points along with seven steals and five assists.

Lakeland's loss dropped their record down to 6-10-1. As for Wausau West, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-4.

Lakeland has already played their next game (against Antigo), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Wausau West didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-29 win against Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln on the 31st.
