Basketball Recap: The O'Neal School Takes a Loss

If The O'Neal School was feeling good fresh off their 39-15 takedown of Fayetteville Academy two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Falcons took a hard 44-26 fall against the Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill Lion on Thursday. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lion apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, The O'Neal School still got an impressive performance from Kennedi Hamner, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards.

Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Allie McIntosh, who posted 15 points and three steals. The matchup was McIntosh's sixth in a row with at least 15 points. Avery Togni was another key player, putting up eight points and nine steals.

The O'Neal School's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-0.

The O'Neal School will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Village Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on the 5th. As for Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill, they have already played their next game, a 45-28 loss against John Paul II Catholic on the 1st.
