Basketball Recap: Effingham Find Success

Effingham hadn't done well against Charleston recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Effingham Hearts managed a 63-58 win over the Charleston Trojans. The Hearts didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.

Despite the loss, Charleston still got an impressive performance from Tyler Oakley, who went 8 for 18 on his way to 28 points. That was a full 48.3% of Charleston's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Luke Bonnstetter was another key player, going 6 for 13 on his way to 14 points.

Effingham's win bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Charleston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-7.

Effingham will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Richland County at 6:00 p.m. on January 7th. As for Charleston, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Taylorville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Charleston has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 174 points over their last three games.
