Volleyball Game Preview: St. Charles East Fighting Saints vs. Wheaton-Warrenville South Tigers

The St. Charles East Fighting Saints will take on the Wheaton-Warrenville South Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. St. Charles East is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

On Wednesday, St. Charles East was able to grind out a solid win over South Elgin, taking the game 2-0.

St. Charles East easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-11.

Meanwhile, Wheaton-Warrenville South faced Lincoln-Way East in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Tigers fell just short of the Griffins by a score of 2-1.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Wheaton-Warrenville South sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 18-25, 25-20.

St. Charles East pushed their record up to 23-10 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Wheaton-Warrenville South, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 25-7.

St. Charles East couldn't quite get it done against Wheaton-Warrenville South in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Fighting Saints avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
