Football Recap: Clovis Skates Past Salinas with Ease

Clovis won the last time they faced Salinas and things went their way on Friday too. The Cougars breezed past the Cowboys to the tune of 49-14. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-7.

Clovis was led to victory by Deagan Rose and James Curoso. Rose threw for 217 yards and five touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, while Curoso gained 129 total yards and two touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Curoso a new career-high in rushing yards (100).

Another reason for the win was Clovis' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for nine sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Lolomanaia Clark and Caden Arsenault, who racked up five sacks between them. Clovis received some extra help from Dayne Williams, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Clovis has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Clovis will square off against Frontier at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Salinas, they will face off against Valley Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
