Aranas Pass, Utopia have largest Texas girls basketball rankings jumps.

With playoffs just around the corner, some Texas girls basketball teams have made giant leaps with recent success. Eleven of the 1,490 teams in the state have jumped 68 spots or more in the latest MaxPreps Texas Girls Basketball Computer Rankings presented by the Army National Guard.

Largest Texas high school girls basketball ranking jumps

Aransas Pass
Jumped 152 spots to No. 667. The Panthers (8-8) tore off four big wins in a row before falling on Jan. 24. During the winning streak, the team's defense allowed just 35.25 points per game.

Utopia

Jumped 116 to No. 935. After dropping three straight games, the Buffaloes (20-7) have answered with five straight wins. Utopia has only allowed 32 points per game during the winning streak.

Howe
Jumped 110 spots to No. 443. The Bulldogs (6-8) pulled off a pair of wins after dropping games at the start of January.

Awty International (Houston)
Jumped 105 spots to No. 1,090. The Rams have had a tough start to the season, dropping five of their first seven games.

Tulia
Jumped 98 spots to No. 774. The Hornets (9-15) are winners of three of their last five games – two of those victories are by five points or less.

Lucas Christian Academy (Lucas)

Jumped 96 spots to No. 1,098. After losing their first four games of the season, the Warriors (3-5) are on a roll, winners of three of their last four.



Lanier (Austin)
Jumped 82 spots to No. 1,136. The Vikings (9-15) have won four of their last six games after hitting double-digit losses at the end of December.

Forsan
Jumped 82 spots to No. 339. The Buffaloes (20-7) are 10-3 in the middle part of their schedule and peaking at the right time.

Cornerstone Christian Academy (Granbury)
Jumped 79 spots to No. 1,010. After moving to .500, CCA (10-6) has rattled off four straight victories.

Flower Mound
Jumped 68 spots to No. 122. The Jaguars (17-11) are on a three-game winning streaking, including a 55-54 overtime victory over Bell on Jan. 24.

Jumped 68 spots to No. 876. The Wildcats (8-15) lost five consecutive games before earning an 11-point win on Jan. 20.
