Trenton has gone 9-1 against Carlson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Trojans will look to defend their home field against the Marauders at 4:00 p.m. Trenton has given up an average of 6.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Trenton is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Allen Park just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against the Jaguars, falling 16-0. The Trojans were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the four matchups prior), but the Jaguars' pitcher proved too tough.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carlson). They were the clear victors by a 23-12 margin over Dundee on Saturday. The win was nothing new for the Marauders as they're now sitting on five straight.
Carlson got a massive performance out of Ava Vasas, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Vasas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiley Lewandowski, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, three doubles, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Carlson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 25 hits. They are 11-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Carlson's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-10. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Trenton, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-4.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Trenton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. However, it's not like Carlson struggles in that department as they've averaged .371. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Trenton was able to grind out a solid victory over Carlson in their previous meeting back in April, winning 9-4. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Marauders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
