 After flying high against Brownstown/St. Elmo  last Tuesday, Nokomis came back down to earth. The Nokomis Redskins wound up on the wrong side of a  rough 13-3 walloping at the hands of the Gillespie Miners on Wednesday. Nokomis has struggled against Gillespie recently, as their  game on Wednesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
 Nokomis saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Reaghan Jonas, who  went 2-for-3 with  an  RBI.
 On Gillespie's side,  Paxton Reid made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she  pitched five innings while giving up just one earned  (and two unearned) runs off   seven  hits (she also didn't allow any  walks). Reid was also stellar in the batter's box,  going 3-for-4 with four  RBI and a  double.
 In other batting news,  Ava Parish was  incredible,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.  Amari Vickery was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
 Nokomis now  has a losing record at 1-2. As for Gillespie, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with that  victory, which was their 12th straight  at home dating back to last season.
 Nokomis will take on Carlinville at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Gillespie, they will head out on the road to  take on  Edwardsville at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Gillespie's pitching crew has only allowed 0.8  runs per game  this season, so Edwardsville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
