Football Recap: West Johnston Wildcats vs. South Johnston Trojans
After flying high against Western Harnett last Friday, West Johnston came back down to earth. The Wildcats lost 35-15 to the South Johnston Trojans on Friday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.
Case Holland threw for 212 yards and a pair of TDs. Chris Patino was his top target, picking up 38 receiving yards.
Holt Langston had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 126 yards and two touchdowns for South Johnston. Langston's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 126 rushing yards.
West Johnston's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for South Johnston, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-3.
The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. West Johnston will head out to take on West Brunswick at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Johnston, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Vance County at 7:00 p.m. The Trojans will be up against the Vipers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 37.9 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
