Preview: Fort Hill Sentinels vs. New Oxford Colonials
Fort Hill is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while New Oxford is on a six-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Fort Hill Sentinels will take on the New Oxford Colonials at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Saturday, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Fort Hill made off with a 36-35 win over Wadsworth.
Jabril Daniels continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 177 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Daniels' longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards. Tristan Ross did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 100 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, New Oxford blew past West York Area, posting a 41-7 victory on the road. The result was nothing new for New Oxford, who have now won five contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Brennan Holmes was the offensive standout of the game as he picked up 105 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Frey, who threw for 106 yards and two touchdowns on only nine passes.
Their wins bumped Fort Hill to 7-0 and New Oxford to 8-0.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Fort Hill has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 309.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like New Oxford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 154.6 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything came up roses for Fort Hill against New Oxford in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 28-0 victory. Will Fort Hill repeat their success, or does New Oxford have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
