Softball Recap: Glenns Ferry Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Glenns Ferry waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Wilder Wildcats as they made off with a 16-0 victory. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 21-0 victory on Monday.

Taylor Martinez was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Glenns Ferry let Natalie Hernandez and Peyton Stewart run wild. Hernandez went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Stewart got on base in two of her three plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Klaira King, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Glenns Ferry's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Wilder, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Glenns Ferry has already played their next matchup, a 12-1 win against Garden Valley on the 9th. As for Wilder, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-4 victory against Horseshoe Bend on the 9th.
