Baseball Recap: West Monroe Comes Up Short

West Monroe extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 6-7. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Brandon Bulldogs. The Rebels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

As for Brandon, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games.

For Brandon's part, they gave Cooper Hooks the start and clearly made the right call: he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Hooks has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Brandon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tre Adcox, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Kam Johnson also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Brandon beat West Monroe by a score of 2-1 later that day.
