Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Bree Lewis and Gabby Cox Lead Coahoma to Victory

Coahoma's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Lamesa Tornadoes as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Tornadoes recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Coahoma was: they took every set by at least 16 points. The final score came out to 25-9, 25-8, 25-9.

Leading Coahoma to victory were Gabby Cox and Bree Lewis. Cox had six digs and six aces, while Lewis had 13 kills and ten assists. Lewis is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 18 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Blakely Rodgers, who had three digs and three aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Coahoma was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Coahoma's victory bumped their record up to 18-9-1. As for Lamesa, they are on a 26-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-20.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Coahoma will take on rival Brownfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Lamesa is set to square off against their familiar foe Compass Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
