Recap: Alcorn Central Bears vs. Belmont Cardinals
The Alcorn Central Bears had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 60-52 victory over Belmont on Friday. The victory was just what Alcorn Central needed coming off of a 77-45 defeat in their prior game.
Despite the defeat, Belmont saw an underclassman step up: Khalil Luster dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Alcorn Central's win bumped their record up to 4-13. As for Belmont, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6.
Alcorn Central won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Colbert County at 12:00 p.m. on January 13th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Colbert County is ranked 204th in Alabama, while Alcorn Central is ranked 229th in Mississippi). Belmont on the road again on Tuesday and play against Tishomingo County at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Tishomingo County is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
