Softball Recap: Crescent Valley Raiders vs. West Albany Bulldogs
Crescent Valley had lost five straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 6-13 to make it six. They came up short against the West Albany Bulldogs, falling 24-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 back in April.
Abby Kessler and Desi Campbell did some serious damage despite the final result: Kessler got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, while Campbell went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Keyera Officer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
As for West Albany, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-11 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On West Albany's side, Kodi Carapinha 2026 made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts Carapinha 2026 has posted since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5.
In other batting news, Meritt Forney 2025 was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Campbell Akers 2027 was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four runs, one double, and one RBI.
