Football Recap: St. Xavier Tigers vs. DuPont Manual Crimsons
St. Xavier faced DuPont Manual in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Tigers walked away with a 28-17 win over the Crimsons. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
St. Xavier's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cooper Yates, who picked up 123 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 52 yards. Yates showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 67 yards. Another signal caller making a difference was Mason Trimble, who threw for 297 yards and three touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to St. Xavier's defense and their four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.
