Basketball Recap: Meadow Ahijevych Key Part of a Team Effort in Celtics Win

There's no place like home for Dublin Jerome, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They took down the Olentangy Berlin Bears 53-37 on Friday. Given the Celtics' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Bears are ranked 148th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dublin Jerome to victory, but perhaps none more so than Meadow Ahijevych, who posted 13 points and six assists. Ahijevych has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Ella Watson also deserves some recognition as she pulled down her first board of the season.

Dublin Jerome smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Olentangy Berlin lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Cami Elliott, who scored 14 points and six assists. What's more, she also posted a 57% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Bashore, who had ten points.

Dublin Jerome's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. As for Olentangy Berlin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season.

Dublin Jerome has already played their next game, a 43-21 victory against Jonathan Alder on the 8th. As for Olentangy Berlin, they will take on Marysville at 7:30 p.m. on February 14th.
